Everyday Oil: Panaway

Continuing in our essential oil series, let's talk about PanAway today! I use this oil just about every day. It has relieved my muscle pain on days I usually would have turned to over the counter medications - I'm so thankful I have a natural alternative now! It's one of my few dear oils I take with me everywhere I go.

If you've missed any previous posts in this series, we've covered LavenderPeppermintLemonPeace & Calming, PurificationJoy, Stress Away, and Valor.

Panaway is a blend of essential oils and contains: wintergreen, helichrysum, clove & peppermint. The scent of these oils combined is SO lovely. I really enjoy it!

  • Rub PanAway essential oil blend across your lower back if you feel discomfort from sitting in front of a computer.
  • Post-Workout Relief: Massage on sore muscles after a tough workout.
  • Low back Pain: Rub pan away across your lower back if you feel discomfort from sitting in front of a computer.
  • Inflammation, bruising, sore muscles: Apply 1-2 drops on area of discomfort (use carrier oil to cover larger areas).
  • Tension head pain: Apply 1 drop on temples, forehead and back of neck, avoiding eyes. Lately, I've been using 1 drop PanAway and 1 drop peppermint around my neck (my upper neck is often in pain) & temples. I usually will lay down for at least a few minutes with a cloth over my eyes (I use my snuggie arm ;) it's perfect!), and put a drop of peppermint on the roof of my mouth.
  • Occasional leg pain: Rub 2-3 drops at the base of the spine or vita flex point of the foot to help ease pain.
  • Pre-made Cream: Last week, I made an easy cream. I used about 1/4 cup coconut oil or so (you can use more or less, depending on your preference) with about 8 drops peppermint, maybe 10 drops pan away, and 8 drops of valor. There are all kinds of combos out there, but I like to rub this mixture on my neck and shoulders (and knee, hip, ankle - anything else that's bothering me) before bed.
There are so many uses for PanAway. My co-workers think it smells like coca-cola or root beer when they can smell the aroma after I've applied PanAway - it's very pleasant. A great resource to have with your oils is the Reference Guide for Essential OilsIn this book, you will find every ailment, alphabetically listed, along with the proper oil to use and how to use it. I currently have the smaller Quick Reference Guide which has been a great resource. For you mommies, you may like the Gentle Babies book by Debra Raybern.

Interested in your own starter kit?
PanAway is one of the 10 everyday oils that come in your premium starter kit, along with a home diffuser (diffusing the oils is one of my favorites!).  The kit sells for $150, which is a great value at about 50% savings.

When you purchase the starter kit, you become a "distributor", but there is no requirement to sell.  No monthly or quarterly minimums to meet.  As a distributor, you can purchase at wholesale prices (24% off retail). You can also become a member of an online community to ask questions about the oils and learn even more about them from others. If you only ever use your distributor title just to get the wholesale prices, this is fine!

If you'd just like to try a bottle of PanAway, let me know and I'd be glad to order it for you.

If you'd like your own premium starter kit, you can follow these instructions:
  • Please make sure you've checked Wholesale Member (and not retail customer---you will not get wholesale prices as a customer)
  • Enter #1831136 (my number) in the sponsor ID and enroller ID areas
  • Fill out your info
  • Select your kit ($150 premium starter kit is the best value.)
  • At this point you can add more to your order if you'd like
  • All finished!

Once you order your kit, I'll be in contact with you to welcome you and help you get the resources you need. I think you're going to love it!

We use Young Living because of the health benefits we've seen in our family.  Every person is different and you might not experience the same results, although I truly hope you will.

Through many hardships we may face in life, it seems we have to make a decision to overcome them. It takes so much, and there is so much beauty on the other side if we can push through. Let's make a choice to let our light shine, despite the toughest of circumstances. There are others who will walk our same path and they'll need our light and encouragement when they get there.

4th & Family

Last weekend, Ranger and I were able to spend time at my mom's with her and dad for the 4th of July. It was great! The dogs all did pretty well together. At one point, I had all the dogs snuggling watching Frozen (cute movie!). It was so sweet. Especially realizing this time last year, Mama Indy was pregnant with Ranger :)

My beautiful mama!

Blurry family selfie before fireworks.

After so much quality time & fun, Ranger was exhausted when we got home the next day.

I was going through family photos, praying for my Aunt Melissa. This week has been tough for her and the doctors have said she likely has a few days left with us. She has truly made an impact on this earth for the Lord, what more can we ask for? She's a beauty inside and out and we're all changed because of her. Please lift her and our family up in prayer if you get a chance.

We all have such a great family and support system for each other. Certain things that happen in life bring you all together and truly appreciate the importance of unconditional love and support.

I found this photo of my cousins on my dad's side (minus Josh) at New Year's Eve one year, compared to the one below we took a few months ago.

I also haven't written much here about it, but I've been emailing with my birth mother (ps - I'm adopted if you didn't know :)) for the past few years. It's been so neat getting know her and seeing similarities, and sharing myself with her. Getting the opportunity to thank her for giving me life was incredible. She recently shared she has been going through chemo and radiation for two tumors in her brain - one was removed, but the other was in too critical of a spot so she's been undergoing treatment. She's been on my heart and mind too - would you lift her and her family up in your prayers too? It's been on my heart to meet her and I'm praying I will get the chance if it's the Lord's will.

Farm Fresh Garden Salad & Homemade Dressing with a Kick

This past week, we received our first batch of food from Urban Acres co-op. They gather foods from local organic farmers and we receive it within just a day or two of it being harvested. On Saturday, I whipped up a delicious salad with our tasty produce!

The freshness of the produce with the flavor of the dressing hit the spot on a sunny summer day.

Produce:
Lettuce - the type we received wasn't specified, but it seemed like romaine to me
Tomatoes
Corn on the cob - I cut it off the cobb when it cooled
Cucumber

Dressing:
2 tbsp virgin Olive Oil
1 tbsp Red Wine Vinegar
1/2 tsp Sugar
1/2 lemon juice (this can be omitted if you don't have it)
5-7 drops of hot sauce - use less if you're worried about it being too spicy
Few dashes of salt and pepper
1/4 tsp or so of garlic powder/granules

I started by boiling the corn to cook it so it would have time to cool. When it cooled, I cut off the kernels.

I added a little salt, hot sauce and lemon juice to the corn to marinate it for a few minutes while I prepared the rest of the produce.

After washing and chopping the produce, here was my assembly line.

I decided I wanted to add everything to a big bowl (I used my salad spinner bowl since I had it out) to toss the ingredients with the dressing. I love salads with dressing evenly spread onto every piece.

I used tongs to put them onto our plates. Not sure that's vital info to this recipe - but it's what I did :)

After Nick's first bite, his words were, "This is incredible." Mission accomplished! :) I think the freshness of the produce plus the delicious dressing was a great combo. I need to make up a bottle of that dressing to use on our salads from now on - it was SO tasty!
