Heart to Heart

I had a heart to heart with the Lord this morning, which I've been seriously missing lately. My hubby knows me well and has helped me see that I haven't been making much needed time for the Lord. I feel so much better once I open my heart to the Lord and ask for His help, let Him know I trust His guidance. I just hadn't made time for it lately. Do you ever feel like your heart is too heavy to turn to the Lord? I think that may have been it for me. Nothing is ever too heavy, too big, or too small for that matter, for the Lord to handle.

My prayer journal (shown above) is where I open my heart and can verbalize my prayers. I can be hard for me to feel heard through prayer, and journaling my prayers, I've seen so many prayers answered I didn't realize I had even prayed about. Plus, it's good for me to write it out, get it out of my system, trust the Lord with it, and move on with a lighter heart.

Letters from Today's Letters Blog

I also stumbled upon this blog, Today's Letters, written by a lovey married couple. They talk about letters they wrote to each other before they started dating (they met working at a camp, so wrote letters to each other during the duration of the camp) and started dating after that. It's a very sweet story (read it here), but they also talk about how their first few months of marriage were tough and they had to realize they needed to communicate more effectively and came up with these 5 questions they continue to ask each other every Sunday.  I love the idea!

1. How did you feel loved this past week?
2. What does your upcoming week look like?
3. How would you feel most loved & encouraged in the days ahead?
4. How would you best feel pursued in sex / intimacy this week?
5. How can I pray for you this week?

Our relationships - with the Lord, our spouse, etc, can really benefit from more open communication. I try to check in and support Nick, but actively making a point to ask some set questions to each other and set that time aside each week is a great goal. It's a need that can easily get pushed away, yet it's so vital we have that strong marriage foundation to handle what life may throw at us.

Here's a throwback to our earlier days - nearly 6 and a half years ago.

I love you, honey (and still miss your cute earrings:)). Thanks for supporting, loving, and encouraging me for the past six years. Even when I don't make sense and ramble, or am at the end of my rope. You keep me grounded, help me regain my perspective, and turn us to the Lord.

Let's think back on our love stories and remember how that love felt as we fell in love with our sweeties, and let's remember show them that love and appreciate them every day.
